ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO SHAPE FUTURE OF TRAVEL AND TOURISM

New reports from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in partnership with Microsoft showcases how Artificial Intelligence could play a role in the future of the travel and tourism industry.

The latest two reports to be published are the last in a series on AI’s implications on the industry. The two, entitled “Responsible Artificial Intelligence: Overview of AI Risks, Safety & Governance” and “Artificial Intelligence: Global Strategies, Policies & Regulations,” hope to put forth a safe, ethical and responsible use of AI.

The two reports were made available during the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.

“Responsible Artificial Intelligence” discusses potential risks the technology may pose and offers ways that AI may be used responsibly. The other report focuses on the AI ecosystem across countries and how governments and international organizations are shaping its use.

"In a rapidly evolving landscape, AI emerges as a catalyst for positive change," said Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO. "The insights provided in these reports demonstrate that AI is not just a technological advancement; it is a strategic tool that can personalize customer experiences, drive sustainable improvements, and shape the future of Travel & Tourism."

"AI is already being used across our sector with incredible results," Simpson continued. "Several major hotel groups including Iberostar are using AI to monitor and reduce food waste, which recently resulted not only in a 27% cost saving but prevented thousands of kilos of unwanted food going to landfill."
